In a recent interview with Manuel Raposo, we got to discuss the work that his multiple companies have taken on. Raposo has in the past few years had incredible growth not only in his social media growth, as seen on his Instagram account @rmprodoff, but also with his companies RM Group, RM Prod, Identity Studio and Voyage Luxury In this interesting discussion, we got to discuss the different areas of his activities and how he got to be where he is today.
Manuel, first of all welcome, it is a pleasure to be talking with you. Can you let me know a little bit about you and where you come from?
Pleasure being here. I was originally born in Venissieux, France in 1983, but have since moved and live in the south of France on the Spanish side. Throughout my life, I have been someone who is extremely curious and always willing to work towards learning about different industries and occupations. That is sort of how I got started in communication, marketing and management. This is what I, later on, decided to pursue professionally with the creation of my company RM Group in 2009.
That’s great, could you let us know a bit more about RM Group and what you do?
RM Group divides its activities into three different key areas. The first one which falls under RM Prod deals with the production and management of artists. The second one, Identity Studio is responsible for all of the high-end communication and marketing. Finally, the third one is Voyage Luxury which is responsible for all of the travel management and arrangements.
With these companies, we have taken our work far outside of Lyon, and have managed to participate in some of the biggest events, including the NRJ Music Awards, several Fashion Weeks and even the Cannes Film Festival. I always joke that now our company is completely worldwide as I have already gotten to travel to New York, Dubai, Miami, London, Australia and multiple other destinations with different artists we have collaborated with.
What motivated you to start this company?
Initially, it was curiosity, I wanted to learn more about communications, which is what led to me diving head-first into the field. What I was not prepared for is how that jump would provide me with essential thinking and critical skills, as well as an overall boost in my creativity which would absolutely transform the way I did business. Knowing that this transformation was possible led me to start my company and all of its different branches.
How would you describe your management style?
I rely on an approach that is both personalized and professional to ensure that each artist has the right environment to develop and achieve their full potential.
What types of artists do you most tend to appeal to?
I mainly work with musical artists, but also photo models and influencers.
What is your unique view of artist-manager relationships?
I am a believer in creativity and the effective balance between art and commerce. I also believe that a fulfilling relationship between an artist and their manager is built on the sharing of ideas, strategies and long-term goals.
What are the greatest satisfactions that your work has given you?
Work independently. Autonomy is an important factor for me. I like to participate in the development of a project. I really like the artistic direction, the personnel management.
What are the main objectives and challenges for 2023 in the professional field?
I am in the process of restructuring the services I offer, in order to be able to offer the latest generation services. With efficient and seriouscollaborators.
